My name is Amber Smith and I am from Danville California. I am a Communication major with an emphasis on Public Relations with a minor in Sports Management. My interests are sports and getting involved around campus and with my sorority. Last year I danced for WSU and it made me gain a love for sports. I loved being a part of a team and loved being a part of something that pushed me to be a better person. I like being involved in things that motivated me to work hard and stay busy. My role for my team is the social media manager which helps create our Facebook and Instagram page and work with helping complete other necessities. Our team members all bring things that are essential to our group. We have our own position’s but we help each other out with each assignment. I have been in charge of starting up our social media accounts and adding pictures and asking people to follow our accounts. I’ve also been in charge of keeping our group on tasks and reminding everyone of what they need to do and when it is complete. I’ve enjoyed my position so far because it focuses on what I’m good at which is Public relations. I am excited about completing our project and showing it to our other classmates! My team has worked really hard on creating a project that is very fitting to college students. I’m excited for people to relate to our project and see what plans we have coming up! My career aspirations are to be an event planner or a sports journalist! The sports industry is very hard if you want to be a journalist so I want to see if I can work behind the scenes helping out at a football or basketball game. This year I’ve worked at a food place called “Legends Lounge,” which has helped me learn the food industry when It comes to big events. I’ve had to work football games because our events are usually going on at the same time. This event has taught me a lot about responsibility, preparation and commitment. Some of my best qualities are I am kind to everyone and very welcoming. I’m a hard worker and get everything done when I’m supposed to! I like reaching out to everyone and making sure that everyone is having a great day or great week. I like being nice to people because I know I would want the same in return. I’ve also learned in the past that you never know what someone’s going through. It doesn’t hurt to just cheer someone up each day by doing something very little that can make their whole month. I care about other people and their feelings. One inspiring quote to me is “Mind over Matter.” Everything that happens in life is based off what you think and you can do anything you want to if you put your mind to it! |
My name is Emily Harris and I am from Yakima, Washington. I am a strategic communications major with an emphasis in public relations and I am minoring in business administration. I am considering double majoring and pursuing marketing as well as communications because I have become interested in marketing as I’ve learned more about it in my classes. My primary role on the team is project manager/brand ambassador. This semester, I am most excited about learning about marketing for a company through social media and other digital media tools. I have already learned a lot through the project we have been working on and I am looking forward to learning even more. This is interesting to me because I feel like I could potentially use these tools and skills in a future career. I think that most companies, no matter what the focus will use these tools. My immediate career aspirations are to gain experience in a variety of fields to see what I am most interested in. Right now I am not dead set on any specific career, I just know that I want to work on a team in a positive environment. I hope to get an internship in an interesting job such as a marketing intern or event planning. My long term career aspirations are to work for a company such as Patagonia or REI on the marketing team because the outdoors and athletics are something that I am interested in and I would be happy working with, or to work as an event planner for a fun company such as a winery or brewery because I could see planning events for people as something that would be very fun and rewarding. Some of my best qualities include being kind and friendly, having patience, being hard-working, and determined to get the job done. I work well with other people and always try to keep a friendly and positive environment. I try to be understanding when I disagree with other people and keep calm in all situations. When I’ve worked on teams before, I have tried to remain neutral and not cause conflict but also I have shared my opinion if I feel like it was important to benefitting the team or the work that needed to be done. I have always been a pretty easy-going person and I am still learning how to handle challenges and obstacles. Over the past few years, especially in my summer job and in college, I have learned how to handle stress in a way that is productive and efficient. One quote that I really like is, “The truth of your character is expressed through the choice of your actions.” I like this because it shows that your actions and the way you work hard and treat other people determines the kind of person you are, and character has always been important to me, when it comes to myself and the people in my life. If you do what you need to do, and treat people with respect and understanding, things will work out a lot better for you than if you decide to only care about what you are getting out of a situation.
My name is Rylee Look and I am from Sammamish, Washington. I am a strategic communication major with a specification in advertising. My role in creating Escape College is the creative designer, where I help create logos and other media to represent our brand. I am most excited to learn how to create and promote a company from start to finish. Promotion and brand building are two things that I can see being very useful in my future career. These are both two things that are key to having a successful company. I find this class to be very useful in the way that it is giving us real life experience and getting to see the success and some down falls in creating a company. The designing portion gives my creative side the ability to show and also improve. My immediate career goal after school is to hopefully work for the company Lifestylez which is a college travel company located in California. My long term career goal is to work up in a company such as Lifestylez or even work for a company like Nike or RedBull and work for their marketing and promotion team. I find all three of these companies to be very upbeat and modern, targeting people who love adventure and living great experiences. This is something that I find to be important and so I hope to be able to be a part of something similar. I am an outgoing, adventure seeking, kind person who is determined to gain experience that will benefit me in the future. I never give up on my dreams and can see this as helping me in the future to get where I am wanting to go. My love for my major and also my recent experience of traveling has influenced me to find a career combining both. A quote that I have lived by and continue to is, “A day without laugher is a day wasted.” Although there are days that you need to be serious this quote tells me that if I do not have happiness, I have nothing. So even if you're not laughing you want to try and always have happiness with you wherever you go and with whatever you do.
My name is Kyle Montgomery and I am from East Wenatchee, Washington currently attending Washington State University in Pullman. I am a dual major in the Murrow College with specializations in Journalism and Public Relations with a minor in Business Administration. I am the content manager for Escape College and I focus on all content for our website and social media platforms making sure everything is double checked and has accurate grammar. I’m most looking forward to figuring out how to implement different things into a website such as a blog and hyperlinks to other pages. One of my first career aspiration is to be a sports columnist focusing mainly on college football and the NBA. I would like to also become a public relations intern for a team out of college such as the Oklahoma City Thunder or Los Angeles Lakers. I have always dreamed of becoming an announcer or radio personality for a platform such as ESPN or Fox Sports and that is probably my biggest career aspiration. My best quality is that I am a very upfront and personable person who is willing to help an individual in any scenario. I am a very open to talking to pretty much anyone about anything (sports and music, mainly) and feel like being very personable is a huge strength in the world we live in. The biggest advantage of working with me is that I am a very forgiving person and if you were to mess up I will not be hard on you but will look for ways to help correct the problem instead. Some problems I had growing up were I had a very short temper with people and I have learned to correct this by figuring out not every one learns at the same pace as you and may not understand things the same way as you. I also work my best in large groups when I am in control as I have gained experience both in high school and in college. A quote that inspires me is, “life is too short to be living somebody else’s dream,” from the late Hugh Hefner. I think this should be a quote that applies to everyone as we are all our own individuals and should aspire to be our best selves every day, not our best somebody else.
